This pattern was a fun mystery knit-along, so I had no idea what I was making (other than that the finished object would be a cowl) when I started. I picked these fun fall colors, but it definitely ended up with more of a Dad's-70s-shirt vibe when I finished.
It's what's known as a dickie, meaning that it has flaps that can hang down to keep the front and back of your neck warm in those spots that your jacket is apt to gap. We personally like the flaps tucked in from the top to add an extra layer of warmth as shown in the first picture.
